I see them as synonymous.

The marks of our-selves,
Like fissures in the landscape:
Lines, openings, cracks, incompatibilities.

Man in the environment:  
Our struggle for existence,  
Our striving for peaceful co-existence.

A dialogue with our self and our environment.  
Quiet footsteps. A wry smile.
